http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,164,148162-255200,00.html For a plain baking powder biscuit that could be substituted for a shortcake biscuit try the following: 2 c. flour 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2/3 c. skim milk 1/3 c. safflower, canola, sunflower or corn oil Heat oven to 425 degrees. Combine dry ingredients. Add milk and oil at once. Stir with fork just enough to hold dough together. Pat dough about 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut out biscuits with floured 2 1/2 inch cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 9 biscuits.
